Mr. Schrader is a shareholder in the Firm who represents physicians and other health care providers in a wide variety of medical malpractice actions in courts throughout the State of Maryland.
Mr. Schrader obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York in 1980, worked in basic Biology research (severe combined immune deficiency) for the New York State Department of Health for two years, after which he obtained his Masters of Science degree in Human Genetics from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York in 1984. From 1984 - 1987, Mr. Schrader worked as a genetics counselor for the University of Maryland Hospital Department of Human Genetics in Baltimore, in which role he counseled individual patients and families who were at increased risk for genetic disorders and congenital anomalies. While in this role, he became interested in the legal implications of the rapidly advancing genetic diagnostic technologies, and enrolled as a student at the University of Maryland Law School in 1987, focusing on health law. Before joining Wharton Levin Ehrmantraut & Klein, Mr. Schrader worked as an associate for Anderson, Coe & King in Baltimore from 1990 to 1993, primarily defending physicians in medical malpractice actions.
