A graduate of the University Of
Maryland School Of Law, Ms. Wales has devoted her practice since
1991 to the defense of claims involving allegations of medical
negligence. Formerly a shareholder, Ms. Wales continues in an “of
counsel” capacity to represent hospitals, groups and individual
physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers in a wide variety
of specialties in cases involving complex medical issues. In addition,
Ms. Wales assists physicians and other healthcare providers with
legal issues relating to licensing, privileges and related healthcare
business matters. Ms. Wales regularly appears before Circuit Courts
throughout Maryland, as well as in the U.S. District Court for
the District of Maryland.
Prior to practicing law with Wharton
Levin Ehrmantraut & Klein, Ms. Wales was a registered nurse,
actively engaged in the practice of nursing since graduation from
Columbia University in 1978. As a result of her education and experience
as a registered nurse in a variety of healthcare settings, as well
as in law, Ms. Wales is well suited to handle complex medical cases.
She is able to communicate effectively with physicians and other
expert healthcare providers in all specialties, whether in conference
with defense witnesses or during cross examination of those experts
retained by the Plaintiffs. Ms. Wales’ practice focuses largely
on complex medical cases involving issues relating to catastrophically
injured adults and children and brain damaged or neurologically
impaired infants. She is responsible for all aspects of the litigation
process including formulation of litigation management plans, selection
of experts, taking and defending depositions, preparation of pleadings
and motions, mediation and trial.
